Serdang, 8 May 2007 (Tuesday) – University of Newcastle, Australia, which is very well-known for its expertise in engineering, is very much interested in cooperating with Malaysian universities, especially UPM, in order to strengthen and expand its international affairs networking.

Through the meaningful discussion being held here in UPM, both parties agreed that it would be very beneficial if the cooperation between Newcastle University and UPM could be materialized with an MoU where some of the objectives would be to send UPM staff to further their postgraduate studies at Newcastle University and to work on research colaboration which would definitely benefit both parties.

Recently, UPM received a work visit from University of Newcastle, Australia, i.e. Professor William R. Purcell, the Pro Vice Chancellor (International) and Professor Barney Glover, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research). Accompanying the two distinguished guests was Mr. Gavin Gomez who is the Deputy Director of the Australian High Commission Office based in Kuala Lumpur.



Both guests were welcomed by UPM officers led by YBhg. Naib Canselor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Nik Mustapha R. Abdullah himself at the Board Room, Administration Building, UPM. Also involved with the meeting session were Prof. Dr. Rosli Mohamad, the Director, Foundation Studies for Agriculture Science, Prof. Dr. Hasanah Mohd. Ghazali, the Deputy Dean, Graduate School of Management, Prof. Dr. Jambari Hj. Ali, the Director for Corporate Communication Division and Prof. Madya Dr. Fakhru’l-Razi Ahmadun, the Deputy Director for Research Management Centre.
