SERDANG, July 20 – The Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has launched the Ziarah Ihsan (Welfare Visit) Programme for Asnaf during Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) for the year 2020.

The programme involves 123 UPM asnaf students from 14 states nationwide, beginning from 20 July to 4 October 2020.

Besides from being able to witness the real living conditions of asnaf students at their hometowns, the Welfare Visit programme during RMCO aims to provide additional aids, especially to those who are affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced from 18 March to 12 May and the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from 13 May to 10 June.

Head of the Zakat Management and Asnaf Development Section, WAZAN, UPM, Ustaz Zuhaimi Abdul Rahim, said the volunteers for the Welfare Visit Programme from WAZAN UPM have been asked to adhere to the RMCO’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set by the National Security Council (NSC).

“The implementation of this programme is done by abiding to the SOP to ensure all visiting volunteers, as well as the students being visited are in good health,’’ he said.

Ustaz Zuhaimi, who is also the programme coordinator, said while visiting the student families at their respective homes, WAZAN UPM ensures that all volunteers will be wearing their facemasks, using hand sanitisers, as well as practising social distancing and scanning the QR codes provided at each house visit.

Selected asnaf students will be given a cash aid of RM 1,000 through UPM zakat fund distribution as well as basic needs donated by the Association of Administrators, UPM (PPUPM). – UPM
