UPMKB implements Putra Smart Classroom, launches Putra Premium initiative

BINTULU, August 8 – Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) has implemented Putra Smart Classroom and launched the Putra Premium initiative to provide the best facilities to students.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, YH. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said the implementation supports student-centred learning (SCL) and allows UPM students to gain easy access to the internet on campus.

Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman addressed his speech in front of the new diploma students of the 2022/2023 academic session at UPMKB in conjunction with the Oath-taking Ceremony and the Vice-Chancellor's Mandate held physically.

"This facility will be a new benchmark for UPMKB to facilitate learning in current times, and teaching can be conducted in a hybrid manner and more interactively for students’ knowledge development," he said.

He added that several areas in UPMKB that will be upgraded with Putra Premium facilities are the Sri Rajang College Cafeteria, the Library Reading Room and the Academic Complex Foyer.

In addition, UPMKB will upgrade the internet facilities from a bandwidth of 100mbps to 500mbps in line with the implementation of 30 UPM Smart Campus initiatives.

In the previous year, UPMKB formed a comprehensive organisational structure with the establishment of two faculties, namely the Faculty of Agricultural & Forestry Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities, Management and Science as well as the establishment of the Institute of Ecosystem Science Borneo.

Also present at the event were UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, UPMKB Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini, and UPMKB College Principal/Head of Student Affairs, Dr. Kamil Latif.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Roslan also took the opportunity to visit the Forestry Camp by the Bachelor of Forestry Science (Forest Plantation) students at UPMKB Nirwana Forest Camp. - UPM
