UPM inks MoU with University of Surrey, United Kingdom, to enhance collaboration in research activities

SERDANG, May 25 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, on developing a strategic partnership in the field of academic studies and collaborative research activities involving staff and student exchange programmes, today.

The MoU encourages both parties to jointly conduct research activities and offer dual award programmes, dual Masters and PhD programmes as well as other higher education-related activities.

The MoU signing was witnessed by the Higher Education Minister (MOHE), YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, as it was signed by UPM Vice-chancellor, YH. Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, and the University of Surrey President and Vice-chancellor, Prof. G.Q. Max Lu.

Also present was MOHE Deputy Secretary-General (Management and Development), YBrs. Dr. Mohd Zabri Yusoff.

The MoU was made during UPM's official visit to the United Kingdom as Malaysia’s representative at the Education World Forum 2022, held from May 22-25, 2022, in Westminster, London. The forum was also attended by the MOHE delegation and vice-chancellors from public universities.

Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman also met with several potential stakeholders to establish strategic partnerships with UPM by paying courtesy calls to the Malaysian High Commissioner in London, the Malaysian Education London Office, and the management of the University of Portsmouth as well as held discussion sessions with the Malaysian academicians (lecturers and researchers) in London.

This visit is part of UPM's efforts to realise the UPM Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025; Goal 1: To produce graduates who are resilient to the challenges ahead; Goal 3: To sustain the industrial and community network ecosystems. - UPM
