LANGKAWI, Sept 3 - Two Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) journals, Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities (JSSH), and International Food Research Journal (IFRJ) have been granted the CREAM status under the Publication Incentive Scheme 2015.

It was granted by the Ministry of Higher Education at the launching ceremony of National Conference on High Impact Journal Publications, here today.

Apart from the certificate of recognition, the two journals have been awarded a sum of RM12,500 each under the journals indexed in Scopus category, in the fields of ‘Arts, Social Sciences & Humanities’ and ‘Science, Technology & Medicine,’ respectively.

The awards were presented by Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh.

A total of 13 local journals that have shown remarkable performance in international databases were chosen as the recipients of Publishing Encouragement Scheme (CREAM).

Of the number of journals, three local journals were indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and 10 others in SCOPUS bibliography database

Chief Executive Editor of the Pertanika journals, Dr Nayan Kanwal, said it was an important recognition for Pertanika since it was a government award.

“I hope to see more good quality, innovative research papers from Malaysia. This should lead to more citations, eventually giving a higher impact factor for the journals,” he said. – UPM
