SERDANG, Feb 23 - A total of 20 paintings by two Polish artists are on display at “The Ways of Heart' art exhibition at the Serdang Gallery, Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) here.
The two featured artists are landscape architects from the Academy of Fine Arts, Gdansk, Dr. Dominika Golebiewska, and Dr. Beata Kalakowska from the University of Warmia and Masukia, Olsztyn.
The bilateral exhibition was on display from February 8 to March 1, 2022. It was launched on a hybrid mode by the Deputy Head of Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Poland in Malaysia, Mr. Dominik Malek.
Also present were the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, University of Warmia and Masuria in Olsztyn, Professor Pawel Wielgosz; the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Dr. Rafal Setlak; Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, contributor, Dr. Dominika Golebiewska, and the University of Warmia and Masuria in Olsztyn’s contributor, Dr. Beata Kolakowska as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), UPM, Professor Dato’ Dr. Abdul Mua’ti who represented UPM Vice-Chancellor.
A combination of 20 works of art - 10 works from Dr. Dominica and Dr. Beata each were arranged and exhibited uniformly based on the specifications required by the Poland artists.
A senior lecturer with the Department of Landscape Architecture, FRSB, UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shureen Faris Abdul Shukor, said the artists from Poland had put their trust in the Serdang Gallery to manage the ‘The Ways of The Heart’ exhibition by sending their original works by post.
She added that before this, many Malaysian artists, including herself, had virtually sent their artefacts in the form of videos to the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, which acted as the host and curator for the first ‘Breathing the Waves’ exhibition held in Poland last January.
The exhibition took place in response to the opening ceremony that was held on a hybrid mode on January 21, 2022, which was attended by the exhibitors from Malaysia and the representatives of the Malaysian Embassy in Warsaw. The exhibition ended last February 13.
A total of nine artefacts were exhibited, and the participants were researchers from UPM, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
The exhibition mainly focused on the factors such as the distance between the two countries, the different cultures, as well as on sharing the effects of the pandemic faced by both countries - UPM
