SERDANG, April 27- A total of 100 asnaf students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) have received donations in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration presented by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Senator Datuk Idris Ahmad, at the UPM Student Aidilfitri Donation Presentation Ceremony.

The event themed “Mensyukuri Ramadan, Meraikan Aidilfitri” (Grateful for Ramadan, Celebrate Aidilfitri) is a continuation of the collaboration programme between the School of Business and Economics (SPE) and QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd in the mission of distributing aid and knowledge transfer to the community, especially asnaf families.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said UPM staff were very honoured and thankful to all the donors who contributed in the form of cash, food, equipment, handicrafts or manpower.

"Hopefully, the donations will enable asnaf students to celebrate Aidilfitri 2022 with gratitude by having the blessings of Ramadan to celebrate UPM asnaf students," he said at the Philip Kotler Hall, School of Business and Economics (SPE), UPM, here today.

Meanwhile, Idris Ahmad said the donations given by QSR as well as several individuals from SPE UPM alumni could ease the burden of students as well as to fulfill their rights.

"What we know is that many B40 students are still the majority in IPTA, that's why with the cooperation from corporate parties like this, Insyaallah, it will at least alleviate what they are experiencing," he said.

Meanwhile, the presentation of a mock cheque of the QSR-SPE Assistance Distribution worth RM150,000.00 was also given at the ceremony by Group CFO, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, Khairul Izzad Mohammed Shamsuddin, to the Dean of SPE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Nordin.

Also present were the President of the UPM Alumni Association, Dato' Raihan Sharif, and the university management committee members.
