SERDANG, Nov 17– Joanita Jonis, 23 and Jacynthia Jonis, 21 are sisters sharing their happy moments together when they both received a Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Occupational Health) and Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, respectively, during the 43rd Convocation Ceremony, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), today.
The eldest and second child of five siblings from Penampang, Sabah, were accompanied by their parents who dressed in traditional Kadazan-Dusun costume.
“My sister has become my idol and inspiration for me in realising my own success today,” said Jacynthia, who is now furthering her studies in Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Occupational Health), also in UPM.
“As the eldest, I play an important role model who gives continuous encouragement to my siblings for them to succeed,” added Joanita.
As a cadet of Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU), Joanita said it did not deter her from obtaining a degree today. - UPM
