SERDANG, April 24 – The Centre of Entrepreneurial and Graduate Marketability, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development via PROTÉGÉ had organised the Career and Entrepreneurship UPM Expo 2019 (CE EXPO UPM 2019).

The expo aimed to provide a platform to integrate collaboration among government agencies with different industries/ private sectors/ NGOs to hold a programme which involved graduates and future graduates of UPM to increase job opportunities for graduates.

“In UPM, for example, about 85 percent of the students will be able to get a job at the same year they graduate, but this is not the case for the remaining 25 percent. So, we exposed them to the available choices early which is to involve themselves in entrepreneurship”, quoted from the speech by the Chief Secretary, Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd. Radzi.

He added that one important issue that needs attention is how we guide students to a higher level with proper training so that they can start their own businesses and stay consistent in the industry.

The programme had successfully targeted more than 17,000 visitors when it opened to students of public and private universities in Malaysia.

Close to 50 organisations from different fields within the country and abroad were involved in providing a platform for discussion and information sharing.

Among the agencies and industries participated in the expo were Bank Rakyat, Tekun Nasional, Media Prima Berhad, Nestle Sdn. Bhd. and Maybank Berhad.

The activities held in the expo included e-resume clinic, exhibition booths for agencies and industries, open interview, lucky draw, and performance by a famous artist, Faizal Tahir. - UPM
