SERDANG, March 21 – The challenge of being a couple with family and career did not stop Dr. Mohd Taufik and his wife, Dr. Nor Aziah, from furthering their studies to PhD in 2014. They were able to graduate on time at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) 45th Convocation Ceremony today.

The couple expressed their gratitude to all parties who helped them pursue their PhDs in the Malay Language at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK).

Dr. Nor Aziah said she had to travel back and forth from Ipoh to Serdang to complete her thesis; however, those were sweet memories as they could face all the challenges together.

“Our careers as lecturers could also not be forgotten, and our decision to choose UPM to pursue our PhDs because I am also an alumna of UPM,” she said.

Her husband, Dr. Mohd Taufik, said they helped and appreciated one another as their journey to become PhD graduates was tough, and patience became the key to continuing their PhDs.

“The children understood our difficulty, although they had to be temporarily left behind. Thank God we were able to perform our Hajj and Umrah while working hard to complete the theses,” he said.

In addition, the couple with four children also advised students who wished to further their studies to a higher level to pray a lot, work hard and be resilient to continue their studies. - UPM
