SERDANG, March 24: “Academic excellence is not the only reflection of success and outstanding quality of a graduate,” said Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Pro-Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr. Ir. Muhamad Zohadie Bardaie.

Thus, he urged graduates to also focus on development and excellence in a holistic manner, and be a good example for students who are still striving in their studies.

“Show the community that UPM graduates are not only excel academically, but also great in personality.”

"Quality and reliable graduates excel not only academically but also holistically and are balanced in all aspects," he said that at Session 6 of the 45th UPM Convocation Ceremony here today.

He added that graduates who are knowledgeable and possess good morals, behaviours, mindsets and manners are important in producing kind-hearted Malaysians.

He also reminded the graduates always to remember the sacrifices of their parents and families as they are the backbones and provide strength and support for them to succeed.

"Their blessings and prayers, especially from parents, are very important in life," he said.

He added that graduates need to make the success they have achieved as a motivation to pursue success in life and their career.

He expressed his hopes that the graduates, who are now UPM Alumni, will always support the efforts to strengthen the relationships and establish a closer relationship between alumni and UPM alma mater.

He said graduates will be UPM ambassadors to the world, and thus, they are responsible for maintaining the university's good name through their contribution to the religion, race, and country, regardless of where they are.

He added that graduates should continue to shoulder the responsibility for maintaining UPM's good name even after becoming alumni. - UPM
