SERDANG, March 20 – "Learn and seek knowledge as much as possible." That was one of the messages given by the late father of a Master of Food Safety and Quality Assurance graduate, Nor Azmiraah Abd Jabar.
Nor Azmiraah attended Session 2 of the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony and was grieving because of the absence of her parents to witness her success here.
According to her, her late father died at the end of 2019 due to stage four pancreatic cancer. She admitted that losing her father almost had caused her to lose direction and give up on her studies.
Nor Azmiraah admitted that she had to go through various obstacles while continuing her studies, including commuting from the hospital to UPM to attend classes in the evening.
"When he was alive, I spent a lot of time caring for my late father at Pantai Hospital, Bangsar, and Kuala Lumpur and brought him for chemotherapy treatment," she said.
Previously, Nor Azmiraah became an orphan at six when her mother died due to severe appendicitis and gastritis.
"Losing my mother had given a big responsibility to my father, who had to remain strong in raising me and my eldest brother, Mohd Azmie Abd Jabar," she said.
She acknowledged the various upbringing and encouragement that his late father gave the two siblings to finish their studies and wished to see his children stand on the convocation stage.
Nevertheless, Nor Azmiraah accepted faith and God’s will and always will make Allah S.W.T the main reason to persevere and never question the test she faces.
She is currently pursuing her studies at the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level, following her father’s advice to acquire as much knowledge as possible, and she aspires to become a lecturer.
