SERDANG - FaSSA Colosseum is back online with the second series and has received greater response from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students and matriculation college students throughout Malaysia.

Due to overwhelming response from the participants and the public, the FaSSA Colosseum 2.0 was not limited to only students from the Faculty of Science but also to students at Matriculation Colleges throughout Malaysia, unlike the previous FaSSA Colosseum.

A total of 504 participants from 126 groups competed to win the FaSSA Colosseum 2.0.

The programme organised by the Faculty of Science Students’ Association (FaSSA), UPM, aimed to create healthy competition among students and promote the Faculty of Science to Matriculation College students.

Programme Director, Sarah Rasinah Sharuddin, and the Deputy Dean of Academic, Assoc Prof. Dr. Nor Azwady, congratulated the winners and the Committee Members for their efforts in making the programme a success.

Programme Advisor, Dr. Mohd Noor Hisham Mohd Nadzir, congratulated the Committee Members for successfully running the programme despite facing various challenges throughout the programme.

He was pleased with the response by UPM and Matriculation College students, with the number of participants exceeding the target of the organisers.

FaSSA Colosseum 2.0 was similar to the first series, whereby the programme was held in the form of an online quiz competition and questions were taken from the four core Science subjects, namely, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

The quiz was divided into three sessions and took place on December 19, 26 and 29, 2021.

Throughout the three sessions, 126 groups competed to be the ten best groups and at the same time qualify for the final round to stand a chance to win the grand prize worth RM250 offered by the Faculty of Science.

A group of students from UPM and the Matriculation College grabbed the grand prize proving that the Matriculation College students can compete with university students.

First place was won by the Epsilon Group (UPM), second place by the Le Chatelier Group (Matriculation), and third place by the Enigma Group (UPM).

Various individual prizes were given to the participants and spectators, including the spectators who showed the most support that took home the “Most Supportive Crowd” award in the form of RM110 cash. - UPM
