SERDANG, March 22 – Having a mother who has had asthma for ten years and is categorised as a Person with Disability (OKU) does not dampen the enthusiasm of a Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counselling) graduate, Noramirah Ibrahim, to attain a degree at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) 45th Convocation Ceremony today.

Noramirah, 25, said her sister was the main financial source for the family as her father could not work due to committing to taking care of her mother.

During her studies at UPM, she was willing to work part-time to reduce her family's financial burden.

"What motivated me to graduate is my parents and family," she said.

She added that one of her missions after graduating was to return the favours and sacrifices of her mother and father over the years.

She also advised UPM students who face family problems to continue persevering and always treating family sacrifices as a source of self-motivation.

Meanwhile, hailing from Pokok Sena, Kedah, she will start working as a counsellor at a school in Perak starting in April 2022. - UPM
