SERDANG, 8 Oct – Adherence to the motto ‘success is not easy, and we have to create it ourselves’ enabled husband and wife Kho Zhen Jia and Hor Sze Lim to successfully attain Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) (Finance) with excellent results.

The will and determination of Hor, 34, was reflected by attending lectures two weeks after giving birth to their third child, although she had not yet fully recovered.

Kho, 34, on the other hand, taught his wife lessons learnt in the class when Hor was absent for two weeks due to childbirth.

Kho earned a CGPA of 3.625 while Hor earned a CGPA of 3.828. Both pursued their education at the Putra Business School (PBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia.

When met at the 19th Universiti Putra Malaysia – Private Higher Learning Institution (UPM-IPTS) Collaborative Programme Convocation Ceremony here, they said that because lectures were usually held in the evenings of weekdays, they would leave the office early at about 4.30pm to avoid traffic congestion.

“In those days, we would start work as early as 6.30am to make up for leaving earlier for lectures” they said. They met while studying at SMK Sultan Abdul Aziz, Kuala Selangor and their relationship led to marriage.

According to them, learning together has enabled them to discuss, prepare together for exams, and most importantly, there is a healthy competition to be better. – UPM
