Artificial Intelligence Workshop attracts interest of MRSM Bentong students

BENTONG, September 14 - The Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has organised an Introduction to Artificial Intelligence workshop aimed at attracting students from MARA Science Junior College (MRSM), Bentong, Pahang, to the field of artificial intelligence.

Program Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef, said the workshop was organised to give early exposure to the students and create a fun learning atmosphere.

"The workshop, which 177 Form 3 students attended, was guided by a facilitator from UPM to develop artificial intelligence applications easily," she said.

She added that various activities were carried out, including briefings, quizzes, and hands-on application development.

In addition, the workshop was also conducted by a lecturer from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM), UPM, Ts. Dr. Nurul Amelina Nasharuddin and assisted by staff from INSPEM, UPM, Dr. Mohd Rohaizat Abdul Wahab, Zahratun Nur Yosminar and Mohd Feziulnida Abdul Manan.

The organised workshop was well received by the students who wanted to know more about the artificial intelligence programme and explore more in the field.

Programme participant, Dayana Batrisya, said she thinks AI is an interesting topic.

"Before this, I did not know about AI, and now, I am very interested in AI, and I hope to continue my studies in this field at UPM," she said.

Meanwhile, through the workshop, the participants can now understand and venture further into the field of artificial intelligence and develop their own applications.

The participants were also given UPM micro-credentials, a digital certificate to recognise students' mastery of knowledge, skills and competencies in artificial intelligence. – UPM
