38 secondary school students participate in Bio-Superhero Outreach 4.0 organised by UPM

KUALA LUMPUR – The Bio-Superhero Outreach 4.0 2022 programme has received participation from 38 secondary school students from the B40 group around the Klang Valley with an aim to increase the participants’ awareness of Biological Sciences and to apply the knowledge gained to the community, recently.

Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Centre (PERKASA), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) organised this programme with the theme ‘Unleash Your Inner Bio-Hero’.

Programme Advisor, Dr. Mohd. Noor Hisham Mohd Nadzir, said the Bio Superhero Outreach 4.0 2022 programme was very different when it was conducted face-to-face with the teen genius students from the B40 group with the theme “Unleash Your Inner Bio-Hero”.

“This programme is anticipated to encourage students to assume the responsibility in making society appreciate the biological sciences through the exposure and knowledge imparted during the activity.

“Other than that, this programme is expected to unveil the participants’ mind to think outside the box when completing tasks and challenges in the future,” he said.

The programme received sponsorship and support from the Faculty of Science, UPM, and KMB, amounting to RM 1,550 and from the Youth Empowerment Centre (PERKASA), Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UKM, worth RM 2,000.

The schools involved in this programme were SMK Taman Sri Rampai (9), SMK Sri Rampai (2), SMK Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara (4), SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara (2), SMK Seri Keramat (2), SMK Padang Tembak (2) and one participant each from SK Seri Rampai, SK Setapak, SK Wangsa Maju Zon R10, SMK Seri Permaisuri Cheras, SMK (P) Air Panas, SMK (P) Bandaraya, SMK Desa Tun Hussein Onn and SMK Batu Muda. – UPM
