UPM, YPBN organise Malaysia Book Expo 2022 and International Book Conference 2022

SERDANG, August 22 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the National Book Development Foundation (YPBN), is organising the Malaysia Book Expo 2022 and the International Book Conference 2022, starting today until August 25, 2022, at the Dewan Besar, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM.

This expo aimed to showcase academic books as well as books related to education and general reading materials such as novels and academic reference books suitable for students and lecturers.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, YH. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said UPM is committed to hosting this expo in response to the role of university academics as reporters of academic sustainability to uphold the culture of knowledge.

 

"UPM has a role in ennobling the thinking through academic research in various fields to share with the community and improve the quality of life.

"The production of academic publications in the form of journals, books and so on must reach a level of quality recognised at the national and international level," he said.

In addition, the expo featured public university publishers, such as UPM Press, UM Press, UIA Press, and UTM Press, registered under the Malaysian Scholarly Publishing Council.

 

The Malaysia Book Expo 2022 is also joined by private organisations and renowned individuals, including the Syarikat Karya Seni, Syarikat Buku Sarjana Media, Koleksi Buku Nadir Pustaka Tok Wan and Ismail Embong's historic painting exhibition.

Meanwhile, the “Forum: Honouring Scholarly Works” was held featuring three panels, namely Dato' Paduka Prof. Dr. Supyan Hussin, Principal Fellow, Institute of Ethnic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysian (UKM); Prof. Dr. Azhar Wahid, Faculty of Languages and Communication, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Mohd. Khair Ngadiron, Director of the National Book Council of Malaysia and the forum moderator, Prof. Dr. Zaid Ahmad, from the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), UPM.
