HULU LANGAT – A total of 37 teenagers aged between 13 and 19 from three People’s Housing Projects (PPR) areas, namely PPR Pantai Ria, PPR Kg. Muhibbah, and PPR Seri Pantai, have recently participated in the Let's Listen to Nature 7.0 (LLTN7.0) programme organised by the Biology Student Club (KMB), Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The programme, themed "Cognizance Towards Nature with Community", aims to raise awareness about nature and the importance of its conservation and preservation among the teenage participants from the B40 group.

Programme advisor, who is also a Senior Lecturer from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, UPM, Dr. Mohd Noor Hisham Mohd Nadzir, said this programme has successfully raised awareness about the importance of preserving and conserving nature, especially among teenagers from the PPR areas.

"In addition, the programme was filled with interesting activities that aimed to connect them with nature and the local community. We also exposed the participants to the fact that science is not difficult and that they have applied scientific knowledge in their daily lives without realising it," he said.

Programme director, Siti Khairunnisa Alias, expressed her gratitude that the programme, which was planned and prepared over several months, has successfully achieved its intended goal and has been executed well.

"I hope all participants can learn, realise, and apply the knowledge they gained from the Let's Listen to Nature 7.0 2023 programme in their daily lives to protect the beauty of the environment," she said.

This year, the programme became livelier and more enjoyable as the implementation was carried out in the fields closely aligned with the objectives, bringing the organisers and participants closer to nature. It also fostered encouragement and enthusiasm among the participants to develop an interest in the field of biological science. - UPM
