Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan Salit is a finalist for IET Achievement Medals 2021

Friday, 22nd October 2021; United Kingdom based The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) achievement medals awarded to nominees who have made major and distinguish contribution in the various sectors of engineering and technology. The IET Achievement Awards exist to celebrate the incredible talent within engineering and technology, with a wide range of categories to recognise people who have made a real impact in their industry.

Whether they are just starting out as a passionate apprentice or technician, or right the way through to their mid-to-late career, there is something to truly recognise the impact of anyone.

Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia is proud to have Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Sapuan Salit FASc as a finalist for an Achievement Medal in Materials and Mechanical Engineering, IET Achievement Medals 2021.

Sapuan Salit is a Professor in Composite Materials at Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is recognised internationally for his pioneering work on materials selection, concurrent engineering, and conceptual design of natural fibre composites, and for his development and utilisation of tropical natural fibre composites.

He pioneered the community work on sugar palm plant utilisation among the rural farmers and introduced the products and commercialisation of sugar palm-based products.

The competition with the world’s prestigious candidates who have incredible talents as pioneers, developers, inventors that made significant impacts in industries related to engineering and technology is such a huge challenge. It is an honour to be one of the finalist for this prestigous award.

May this achievement be an inspiration to the young talents, who will contribute to UPM to achieve its vision as to become a university of international repute.
