SERDANG, April 11 - The Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment (WAZAN), UPM, has launched the Zakat and Waqf al-Falah Month 2022 in conjunction with UPM's 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration at the Galeri Putra, Canselori Putra Building, here today.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said through the launch, WAZAN will continue to implement caring efforts in welfare activities for asnaf students and subsequently for UPM members.
“I fully support WAZAN's efforts in allocating funds to programmes that benefit UPM members in the month of Ramadan. The various assistance allocations channelled by WAZAN are expected to ease the financial burden of those in need,” he said.
Director of WAZAN UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Daud Awang, said WAZAN could be an ideal platform for sharing wealth and benefits among the ummah through cooperation, volunteerism, aid missions and various generating programmes.
"The launch of the Zakat and Waqf Month also aims to increase the number of zakat and waqf payers and contributors through the Salary Deduction Scheme (SPG) among UPM staff," he said during the launch.
Also present were UPM Registrar, Muhazam Mansor, Head of Division, Student Affairs (BHEP), NurulIman Ibrahim, Head of Collection Division of the Selangor Zakat Board, Muhd Fikri Naim Harun, and Head of the Agency Management Department of the Selangor Zakat Board, Mohd Hairul Azlan Ramlan. - UPM
