SERDANG, January 14 - A total of 141 members from various Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) uniformed bodies have participated in the Uniformed Bodies Parade Day for the 2022/2023 Session, organised by the Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (PKPP), UPM.

The programme was aimed at building leadership, unity and patriotism through the parade of uniformed bodies.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said the programme was reintroduced after being halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) throughout the country.

"Platform as such should be used to promote and attract more students to join the uniformed bodies at UPM.

"The total number of the members of uniformed bodies at UPM currently is 632 students varying from the first to the final year.

"This is a large number and shows that UPM students are always committed to being active in uniformed bodies," he said.

Meanwhile, a Bachelor of Environmental Management student, Muhammad Ikbal Herman, who participated in PALAPES (army), said involvement in the uniformed bodies at the university helps build skills and personalities among students.

The parade saw participation by the Reserve Officer Training Team (PALAPES), Student Police Volunteers Corps (SUKSIS), Student Civil Defence Corps (SISPA), Scout Association of Malaysia and the CLOVER Girl Guides Association.

The various activities organised by each uniformed body are in line with Goal One of the UPM Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025, which is to produce resilient graduates to face challenges in the future. -UPM.
