SERDANG, Jan 5 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has been appointed by UNESCO-ICHEI this year as the centre for the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) in the higher education digital transformation initiative in the Asia Pacific region.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said UPM is committed to continue supporting the digitalisation agenda of educators not only in Malaysia but around the world.
"In the previous years, UPM has been actively involved in developing educators' digital competence through various activities such as digital continuous professional development programmes and smart campus initiatives.
"UPM has put efforts to promote and enhance the use of ICT in its smart campus initiative via promoting a conducive and inclusive ecosystem," he said in the UNESCO-ICHEI meeting held online today.
He also expressed gratitude to UNESCO-ICHEI for choosing UPM as a collaborative partner this year in the noble effort to champion the effort and cause of IIOE.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), UPM, Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, said UPM is ready to help HEI lecturers, especially in developing countries.
"UPM will be lined up with digital educators who will share their knowledge with countries that are less proficient in the application of digitalisation in education and participate in the higher education digital transformation initiative in the Asia Pacific region to improve the quality of education further together," he said. - UPM
