UPM to host National Youth Day 2016

SERDANG, April 26 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has been chosen to be the host for National Youth Day 2016 by the Youth and Sports (KBS) Ministry, which carries the theme “Showcase of Talent” and will take place on May 15.

Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the National Youth Day 2016 was in recognition and appreciation of youths’ contributions in national development.

“It is hoped that this program will inspire our youths to be more creative and productive, with the involvement of university students, particularly UPM students, in the program this time around,” he said.



UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris said the fact that UPM was picked by KBS as the main venue for the 2016 National Youth Day finale served as a trust to ensure the smooth running of over 20 activities which will be featured throughout the day.

“The UPM community is indeed proud that it has been chosen to host the program and the involvement of students, henceforth, will strengthen youth development in the country as a proof of the potentials and skills of the young generation these days,” she said.

Among the programs that have been earmarked for the day are 2016 Youth Convention, Colourful Youth, GOV.my Mobile and the presentation of the Perdana Belia Negara award. Besides that, Jelajah Kampus Rakan Muda program which features six tour series will also be held in support of the National Youth Day.

Meanwhile, Minggu Belia which will start from May 9 to May 14, 2016 throughout the country will further embellish the National Youth Day celebration. – UPM.
