SERDANG – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan has called on the staff of UPM to have the capacity to generate new ideas that can bring prosperity to the community.

He said in his speech that he was calling on the UPM staff to have an open mind in accepting changes that will further improve the quality of services provided.

“We cannot be complacent with what we are doing currently which is merely focusing on the implementation of routine tasks.

It is now the time to migrate from the ‘old school of thought’ to a new thinking and to be prepared to accept changes that should be merged with the implementation of their respective core businesses,” he said at the UPM-level 2013 Quality and Innovative Service Day  (HKIP UPM), here.

He said UPM had  implemented several initiatives in an effort to develop a culture of innovation and creativity. Several changes especially in the work style had been carried out and improved so that the service delivery system could be further streamlined.

“An improvement in the level of creativity and innovation in carrying out daily routine not only brings about added value to the organization but also contributes to the development of quality human capital that can project their respective potentials in a prudent manner and with integrity,” he said.

UPM Registrar, Dato’ Wan Azman Wan Omar said the Quality and Innovative Service Day aims to appreciate and give recognition to efforts on innovation and to strengthen the values of integrity among UPM staff.

“The enculturation of innovation in the organization will diversify the dimension of innovations in the way we think and act so that they will continue to be relevant and in line with the needs of current services and work practices,” he said.
