UPM receives 3 electronic-COMS cars from Toyota Auto Body Malaysia

SERDANG, June 2 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received three units of electronic-COMS cars from Toyota Auto Body (M)  Sdn. Bhd. (TABM) with charging system vehicles feature that are safe for use for the environment.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris expressed her appreciation to TABM and Toyota Auto Body Japan (TABJ) for their support and cooperation with the university, saying that such collaboration should be continued for closer relationship between Malaysia and Japan.

“I wish to express my gratitude to TABM dan TABJ for their continued support and collaboration with UPM through many on-going activities, such as the management training programme, industrial training and technical visit programme which will benefit both UPM staff and students,” she said.



She added that UPM’s top position as ranked by UI-Greenmetric World University Ranking in Asia indicated UPM’s commitment in preserving the environment through environmental-friendly learning and teaching activities as well as quality management system based on sustainable environmental management.

"In line with the project initiatives, MyCOMS will further strengthen its UPM Eco-campus programme in tandem with the university’s vision to spearhead all environmental-related activities with UPM’s status as a green campus to be brought to a higher level,” she said.

TABM Managing Director, Masaki Fukada said the cars were presented to UPM in line with TABJ’s aspiration to promote eco-friendly Toyota products to safeguard the environment, globally.

“We fully support the MyCOMS project in conducting research to achieve its target of being a green campus and hopefully, UPM will make full use of the opportunities to enhance its position as a renowned public university in Malaysia,” he said.

Meanwhile, the handover was also witnessed by TABJ chairman, Mr. Takuji Amioka, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UPM Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila and Senior Lecturer of UPM’s Department of Electric and Electronic Engineering,  Engineering Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norisham Misron. - UPM
