UPM Press launches three new books in conjunction with Malaysia Book Expo 2022

SERDANG, August 22 – The Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Press has launched three new books in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the Malaysia Book Expo 2022 and the International Book Conference 2022.

The three books entitled “Bahasa dan Identiti Kepimpinan Khaled Nordin Dalam Pendidikan Tinggi Negara, “Politik, Etnisiti dan Peradaban: Malaysia Pasca 2020” and “Pantun Teka Teki dan Tafsir”.

The main author of the book “Bahasa dan Identiti Kepimpinan Khaled Nordin Dalam Pendidikan Tinggi Negara” is a lecturer from the Faculty of Human Ecology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain. He said this book could be used as a general reference which will benefit, especially in writing official speech texts.

"Speech from a leader should not only be documented but analysed as well because we can assess the leader's identity through it.”

"This book explains how the language used in a speech text can divulge the identity of a leader, and it is a good read for those who want to delve into the field of language, politics and leadership in higher education," he said.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Izani, who is also the main author of the book “Politik, Etnisiti dan Peradaban: Malaysia Pasca 2020” further explained that this book analyses academically and critically the aspects of politics, ethnicity and civilisation in Malaysia post-2020.

"This book contains articles that reveal political polemics, ethnicity and civilisation, especially after the 14th General Election and before the 15th General Election," he added.

He hoped the launch of the academic books published by UPM would continue to be promoted and read on top of it being able to dignify Malay as the language of knowledge.

The launch ceremony of the three books was witnessed by the Deputy Secretary General (Policy), Dato' Dr. Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian, who also officiated the Malaysia Book Expo 2022 and the International Book Conference 2022 at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre, UPM.  

Meanwhile, Dato' Dr. Megat Sany also presented 18 awards to winners of the National Book Award 2022.

Also present were UPM Vice-Chancellor, YH. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, the Chairman of the Managing Board for the National Book Development Foundation (YPBN) and YB. Tan Sri Professor Datuk Wira Dr. Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar. -UPM
