UPM ORGANISES UPM ATHLETE APPRECIATION CEREMONY FOR HANOI SEA GAMES 2021

BANGI, June 13 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised an Athlete Appreciation Ceremony for the Hanoi Sea Games Championship 2021 to celebrate the success of national athletes who are also UPM students recently.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, YH. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, said the ceremony was held specifically to appreciate UPM athletes who succeeded in making the country and UPM proud.

“36 UPM athletes were selected to represent Malaysia at the SEA Games, Hanoi, and they contributed seven gold, four silver and nine bronze medals out of a total of 56 gold, 55 silver and 75 bronze medals achieved by the Malaysian contingent, and this is a good achievement, "he said.

The text of his speech was read by UPM Registrar, Muhazam Mansor, who represented YH. UPM Vice-Chancellor.

Also present at the event were the Senior Principal Assistant Secretary, High Performance Unit, Sports Section, Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Nazmizan Muhamad, UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Director of UPM Sports Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tajularipin Sulaiman, Chairman of UPM College Principals, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amini Amir Abdullah and UPM Senior Officers.

Meanwhile, six UPM athletes received the Gold Medal Award and an incentive of RM700, namely Ng Yan Yee (Diving); Jellson Jabillin (Diving); Hanis Nazirul Jaya Surya (Diving); Rachel Yeoh Li Wen (Gymnastics), Andre Anura @ Anuar (Triple Jump) and Nor Sarah Adi (Pole Vault).

The Silver Medal Award with an incentive of RM500 was received by five athletes, namely Syaqiera Mashayikh (Archery); Jonathan Nyepa (Athletics); Muhammad Zulfiqar Ismail (Athletics); Queenie Ting Kung Ni (Discus Throw) and Muhammad Faisal Mohd Fuad (Sepak Takraw).

The Bronze Medal Award with an incentive of RM300 was received by Rachel Yeoh Li Wen (Gymnastics); Nor Sarah Adi (Athletics); Syaqiera Mashayikh (Archery); Muhammad Erry Hidayat (Weightlifting); Muhammad Shahrul Aimy Kamaru Hisham (Gymnastics); Madhuri a/p Poovanesan (Karate); Siti Nur Azwani Nor Azli (Karate); Muhamad Zarif Syahiir Zolkepeli (Archery); Sadat Marzuki Ajisan (Hammer Throw); Azreen Nabila Alias ​​(Athletics), Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli (Athletics) and Mohamad Akram Rasit (Boxing). - UPM
