UPM gives out awards in conjunction with MGP and Labour Day Celebrations

SERDANG, May 3 - The Registrar's Office, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) awarded seven awards to outstanding staff in conjunction with the Gemilang Putra Ceremony and Labour Day Celebration 2019.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris, said the ceremony was significant as it is a special platform for the university to show its recognition and appreciation towards the commitment of UPM staff and officers for their outstanding performance throughout 2018 and those who have devoted their services to the university.

"I hope the determination and sincerity of UPM staff and officers in carrying out responsibilities entrusted to them will encourage others to continue to provide the best service quality in all aspects," she said.

UPM Registrar, Dato' Wan Azman Wan Omar, said both ceremonies would be the driving force for UPM staff to maintain their excellence and to strive further in creating a positive impact in delivering services to clients.

“Themed 'Pekerja Amanah Aspirasi Negara' (Trustworthy Workers Nation’s Aspiration), the Labour Day 2019 celebration focuses on an important competency that must be embraced by every UPM staff and student. Everyone must realise that a job is a responsibility that one needs to carry out to the best of the ability," she said.

The Gemilang Putra ceremony is an event in which the university shows its recognition towards outstanding staff in 2018. Five categories of awards were given including ‘Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang’ presented to four employees who have passed.

In addition, 132 retired officers received Jasa Putra Award; 45 officers who have served UPM for 20 years received Setia Putra Award; 20 officers who have served UPM for 30 years received Bakti Putra Award; and 453 officers who served excellently in 2018 received the Outstanding Service Award.

As for the Labour Day celebration, six categories of awards were presented. They were the Anugerah Tokoh Pekerja (Outstanding Worker’s Award) (Management and Professional group - Academic) awarded to Prof. Datuk Dr. Mad Nasir Shamsudin while Anugerah Tokoh Pekerja (Management and Professional group - Non academic) was awarded to Noorizai Mohamad Noor @ Mohamad.
