Sports Centre, Sports Academy at UPM to merge

SERDANG –The Sports Centre and Sports Academy at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) are merged and rebranded as the Sports Academy effective February 3, 2022.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, had agreed to approve the merger in the 791st meeting of the University Management Committee.

He hoped the merger would allow the UPM community to achieve greater success in the field of sports as well as to increase the visibility of the university as a reputable university internationally.

Director of the Sports Academy, UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tajularipin Sulaiman, said the merger is in line with the university's intention to optimise the expertise of academics and research in the development of sports in UPM and the country.

Meanwhile, the Sports Centre is one of the entities under the administration of the Student Affairs Division and is responsible for managing all matters related to the organisation of indoor and outdoor sports, participation of UPM in national and international tournaments, care for the welfare of athletes, and work contributes towards achieving the university KPIs. - UPM
