Senator Chong Sin Woon held agricultural dialogue session in UPM

SERDANG, March 2 – Chairman of Lembaga Pengarah Koperasi Petani Muda Malaysia, Senator Chong Sin Woon, held a dialogue with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) management to get to know the latest about the university, among others about its research, technology and mechanism.

He said UPM is a leading higher learning institution with a good track record in inventing new and innovative agriculture methods that were beneficial to the society.


Senator Chong, who is also Deputy Education Minister II, said the ministry was working with UPM to commercialize agro products which also involved researchers and farmers.

Earlier, he inspected 18 agriculture produce showcased by the Faculty of Agriculture, including Rintang Paddy to Tartar Disease; GanoCare™:Leading Ganoderma Oil Palm Disease Control; Solar Heater Box; Biobased nanoemulsion of Rotenone for Save and Effective Insect Pest Control; Alamanda-Deriver Bio fungicide for The Control of Papaya Anthracnose; Ayam Akar Putra; Putra Red Tilapia; Cultivation of Edible Mushroom; Kenaf and Oil Palm Trunk: Adding Value to the Malaysian Farmers; UAV Drone for Precision Farming; VRT Sprayer for Oil Palm Plantation and a sesame cake machine.

There were also products displayed by UPM’s Bioscience Institute – Afdhal Oil, Bonext which is a dietary supplement for joints and bone health, Healen – a disinfectant that promotes healing of skin, Origold Drink and HS Gold.



UPM management at the dialogue session was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry & Community Relations), Prof. Dr. –Ing. Ir. Renuganth Varatharajoo; Deputy Chief Librarian, Muzaffar Shah Kassim and Dean of Agriculture Faculty, Prof. Dr. Abd Shukor Juraimi. – UPM.
