ProEXSA: Graduate Employability programme to enhance graduate marketability

SERDANG, Sept 20 – A total of 76 participants have attended the ProEXSA: Graduate Employability programme, which was held for the first time to increase marketability and ensure students possess added value and are better prepared for the job market.

Lecturers and alumni from the industry expressed their perspective about the skills and competence required by the labour market at the programme organised by the Chapter Alumni YOSH UPM in collaboration with the Alumni Centre, UPM.

Muhammad Azri, Chairman of the Chapter Alumni YOSH UPM, said the programme could produce students with vision as well as the right mindset towards career skills.

He added that the participants were given effective study tips from the lecturers, alumni and outstanding UPM students and also exposed to soft skills and business management skills to sharpen their skills.

“All these skills will be an asset for graduate marketability and also a determinant of employment”, he added.

Deputy Dean (Academic), Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azwady Abd Aziz, said the Chapter YOSH UPM initiative is beneficial for students to fill their time during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Exposure to this programme indirectly could nurture positive attitudes, good personality and high motivation amongst the graduates to face challenges of the future”.

The programme was divided into two main slots, 101 Degree Life Hacks and FAQ: Talk with Lecturer and Students, and managed by a panel of experts in their field. - UPM
