Lagi ditutuh lagi ditebang,
     Dibuat mari ampaian kain;
Tempat jatuh lagi terkenang,
     Inikan pula tempat bermain.

These are the lines in a Malay poem from the alumni of the Diploma in Forestry and Bachelor of Forestry Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB), when mentioning Nirwana Forest Reserve. It simply means a place to remember.

Each has its own story that is kept as a memory in this place.

UPMKB Faculty of Agricultural Science and Forestry Dean, Dr. Zamri Rosli, said UPMKB Nirwana Forest Reserve was used as a site for their learning, research and Rimbawan Forest Camp.

"A two-week period is given to Diploma in Forestry students while three weeks for Bachelor of Forestry Science students to organise forest camp here for orientation.

"The purpose is to learn survival, practise and camp. When they join this forest camp, the students will also not cook using gas, but they will have to use a wood stove by collecting and looking for dead wood," he said.

Meanwhile, UPMKB Nirwana Forest Reserve is also open to the public for recreation and jungle trekking. - UPM
