The New International Students Welcoming Programme (NISWP) is an i-PUTRA® initiative to introduce support services and facilities provided in UPM to new international students.

Under the programme, few briefings were given, including an introduction to LAX by the Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC), an introduction to UPM and i-PUTRA by i-PUTRA®, and on the academic rules and regulations, visa and pass matters by the Immigration Department.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Ts. Dr M. Iqbal Saripan, said in his speech that UPM is one of the five research universities in Malaysia which is actively involved in research.

He added that UPM is also the second university in Malaysia to have the most number of international undergraduate students, and it has the highest number of postgraduate students in the country.
