KDBM Putra wins first runner-up in Negeri Sembilan debate competition

Nilai, September 13 - The Malay Language Debate Club, Universiti Putra Malaysia (KDBM Putra), has won the first runner-up in the Malay Language Debate and 'Speaker Corner' competition in conjunction with the 65th Malaysian Independence Day celebration at the Negeri Sembilan level held at the KPJ Healthcare University College, Kota Seriemas, Nilai, here today.

KDBM Putra was represented by the second-semester students, Muhammad Zulfakhri Zulkifli, Bachelor of Electric and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, Muhammad Hakim Nor Zamani, Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM, and Nur Ain Aqilah Rosli, Bachelor of Science in Statistics with Honours, Faculty of Science, UPM.

Team representative, Muhammad Zulfakhri, expressed gratitude for the achievement because his team had made it to the final stage.

"I am grateful for this achievement and also make this competition as a practice platform for the prestigious debate competition, which is the Royal Debate which starts on September 17," he said.

The team brought home a cash prize of RM 800 and a certificate after losing to Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in the final stage with a debate motion, 'To defend independence, Malaysian youth need to be more patriotic'.

Meanwhile, Nur Ain Aqilah came third in the overall best debater and bagged RM 100 in cash. - UPM
