JPNIN-UPM Collaborates for a National Integration and Unity Programme

SERDANG, 24 July - The Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (CSDC), Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) collaborated with the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) to form a strategic collaboration for a national unity and integration programme that would impact the society particularly the younger generation.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, said that the nation’s stability and harmony depend on the strength of unity among the multiracial citizens with diverse backgrounds.

"I am confident and believe that these three programmes will empower and enhance the roles played by the younger generation in mainstream developments as aspired by the 2050 National Transformation (TN50)," he said when officiating the Strategic Cooperation Media Conference Programme between JPNIN and UPM.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris said the programme with JPNIN is proof of UPM's commitment in upholding national unity.

"This is a positive move to give early exposure in cultivating the values ​​of unity and multi-racial integration so that the younger generation would understand and continue to uphold unity," he said.

UPM Student Co-Curriculum and Development Centre Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paramasivam Muthusamy mentioned several collaborative programmes between JPNIN and UPM that have been implemented such as the Cross Cultural Programme initiated in 2016 which involved 200 schools in the Klang Valley.

"This effort is continued in 2017 involving 191 schools throughout Malaysia. Besides that, the Rukun Negara Convention will be held in UPM from August 11 to 13, and it will include participation from all public and private universities in the country," he said - UPM
