SERDANG, May 19 - Some 13 new innovations in the field of Design and Architecture will be showcased on May 24 during Innovation Open Day (IOD) organized by Putra Science Park (UPM).
Deputy Director of Putra Science Park Innovation Promotion and Marketing Division, Dr. Mohamad Fakri Zaky Ja’afar said the exhibition will take place at Galeri Serdang in the Design and Architecture Faculty (FRSB) from 10am until 1pm.
It carries the theme of “Prospering Through Art & Design Innovation.
He said the main focus of IOD was to promote the commercialization of UPM technologies, encourage face-to-face meeting between researchers and the industries as well as strengthening the network of cooperation between the two parties in terms of expertise and consultation services.
According to him, such an effort would widen the network of cooperation and assistance between the industries and the university in increasing commercialization efforts for the university’s technologies.
“For those who are interested, they can purchase the technologies which will be licensed for the market,” he said when doing a soft launch of the exhibition.
Until today, the organization of UPM IOD has showed positive results where Putra Science Park has succeeded in holding discussions on commercialization of UPM technologies with the industries.
The 13 new innovations for IOD, courtesy of FRSB, include i-STP which is an innovation relating to a treatment system for sewerage that is independent in nature and easy to manage, particularly for water villages or settlements.
Another feature is the innovative MyOBSA-Ops which relates to a job system of framework assessment on sustainability of an office building at operational level.
Other highlights at the exhibition will be the IBS Foreman, E-Site Inventory, Decoponix, Homedeco, Speculum, He-Pro (Fly Repellent), Student’s School Furniture, i-Face and Froggy Lamp.
IOD is held in conjunction with FRSB’s 20th anniversary. – UPM
