PUTRAJAYA, July 18 – His continuous effort since his first year in the entrepreneurial and innovation world did not go in vain for Hoh Jia Da when he was awarded the 2023 Putra Icon Award (Anugerah Putra Ikon – API).
The final year student of Bachelor of Software Engineering from the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology (FSKTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was surprised and did not expect to haul the award which bagged RM1,000 prize money as well as a winning trophy.
“I have received many opportunities and assistance throughout my four years here at UPM. This is the award of my dreams.
“I was also surprised that the Student Affairs Division (BHEP) had brought my father from Johor to attend this event to celebrate my achievement.
“A special thanks I bid to FSKTM, to CEM for assisting me since my first year in entrepreneurship, to BHEP and UPM,” he said during the 2023 API Event in Shaftsbury, Putrajaya last night.
He was also awarded the Entrepreneurial Leadership Award under the Social Development Cluster.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of UPM, Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd. Roslan Sulaiman stated that API is not only a medium to appreciate excellent and active students but also functions as a catalyst to improve students’ achievement for greater excellence.
“API is a platform to acknowledge and motivate students’ leaderships which demonstrate holistic excellence and competence that is in line with the first shift of the Malaysia Education Development Plan (Higher Education) 2015-2025,” he said.
A total of 19 awards were contested, including Individual Special Cluster (two awards), Team Special Cluster (four awards), Volunteering Cluster (three awards), Academic and Intellectual Development Cluster (three awards), Social Development Cluster (three awards), Student Leadership Cluster (three awards), and the grand prize which was the 2023 Putra Icon Award. - UPM
