FAILED SPM IS NO OBSTACLE TO ATTAINING A MASTER'S DEGREE

SERDANG, March 24 - "I still couldn’t believe that I graduated with a Master of Corporate Communication today despite failing my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and did not want to continue my studies after that," said Faisal Jamal.

As a journalist at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), he graduated at Session 6 of the 45th Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony today at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS).

Although he did not want to continue his studies after the failure, it inspired him.

"Actually, I've failed many times over, but I’ve always gotten up and achieved the goals I set. For me, education is the way to help me achieve a better life."

"My late father always supported me even though I was lazy to study, and when I continued my studies at the diploma level at Academy TV3, he took out a loan as there was no study loan at that time," he said.

He also added that he was given the support needed throughout until his master’s by his father as his father had always wanted his children to continue studying.

Although Faisal was already working at the time and using his own money to pay for his master’s studies, his late father always gave him moral support.

"While I was in the third semester of my master's studies, my father passed away, and I dedicate this scroll as a gift to my late father, Jamal Ngadimin," he said.

Also, while serving at RTM, he realised the importance of education for his advancement.

Also, as the Deputy President of the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM), he thanked RTM, his coursemates, family members and his supervisor, Dr Syed Agil Alsagof, for helping him out to this day. - UPM
