SERDANG, July 20 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Esyms. Sdn. Bhd. have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to deliver medicines to patients at the Outpatient Pharmacy, UPM Teaching Hospital (HPUPM).

YH. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd. Roslan said the medication delivery service is a medicine supply service offered by a courier company (Esyms Sdn. Bhd.) with a fixed delivery charge which delivers follow-up medicines directly to the location designated by patients.

"It is one of the Pharmacy Value Added Services available for the convenience of patients to guarantee the continuity of follow-up medicine supply to patients.”

"ESYMS Pharmacy delivery service is the only company that offers cold chain delivery services using temperature-controlled delivery bags managed by staff who are trained on the proper handling of cold chain items.

Also present were the Deputy Director of HPUPM, who represented the Director of HPUPM, Prof. Dr. Syafinaz Amin Nordin and the Chief Executive Officer of ESYMS Sdn. Bhd., Lam Wee Yong.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Esyms Sdn. Bhd., Lam Wee Yong, the strategic collaboration network between ESYMS and UPM Teaching Hospital in providing medicine delivery services to patients ensures continuity of follow-up medicine supply and convenience of patients receiving treatment at HPUPM.

"In 2019, ESYMS carried out research and developed the ALLMEDS system with an aim to resolve problems related to the delivery of follow-up medications to patients, especially those who required cold chain medications such as insulin and eye drops. This system had been implemented under a pilot project in several public facilities and received a good response from hospital customers.”

"Currently, the ALLMEDS system has been utilised by pharmacies and patients from teaching hospitals such as those in UM, UKM, and UITM as well as private hospitals and public hospitals which we will reveal soon. The ALLMEDS system is an application that helps pharmacies and hospital patients make medicine delivery orders and monitors the delivery to patients’ locations accurately and quickly.

"Delivery of cold chain medicines to patients is handled by trained riders using the ALLMEDS delivery packages capable of controlling temperature between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. ALLMEDS by ESYM has completed more than 100,000 medicine parcel deliveries from various government and private facilities. Through the comprehensive cooperation with HPUPM, we are very confident that more patients will be able to enjoy the benefits through a delivery facility that guarantees safety, speed, and quality.”

At the same time, HPUPM also introduces visitors to the seven main/niche areas that will be introduced at HPUPM, namely the One-Stop Centre for Stroke Patients, One-Stop Centre for Prostate Cancer, Sports injury and Arthroscopic Surgery Centre of Excellence (SIASCOE), Advanced Medical Research in Allergy and Clinical Immunology Centre (AMRAC), zoonotic, gerontology, and cancer-haematology (REACH). -UPM
