SERDANG, Oct 29 - Despite juggling between studying and managing an online business, Ang Xin Tong from the Faculty of Economics and Management had successfully completed her studies and awarded with a bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship at the 42nd Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Ceremony, today.

Xin Tong, a descendant of Baba Nyonya from Melaka, ventured into the online jelly cake business in 2016. She was inspired to start the jelly cake business and sweet snack design after seeing their unique and colourful photos on the web.

"As a graduate in Bachelor of Business Administration, I seek not only knowledge and theory, but also to grab the opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge in everyday life,” she said.

Her best-selling food is the traditional Chinese cake, ang ku kuih.

She said her ang ku kuih is unique because she replaces the flavour of the filling of the traditional ang ku kuih to pandan.

"Unexpectedly, the re-innovation of the traditional cake received a warm welcome from the customers," she said and thanked the UPM's Entrepreneur Development and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (CEM) for providing her with guidance on writing a business proposal and strategies on carrying out a business.

She said that among the challenges she faced in the business were dealing with the customers' different characters and meeting their various demands.

"I hope UPM students are not afraid to face challenges when they venture into online businesses. Use this opportunity to improve communication skills and problem-solving skills and to be confident," she said.

Ang is currently pursuing Master of Science (Agribusiness) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM. - UPM
