24 UPM staff receive the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship award from the Sultan of Selangor

SERDANG, April 30 - A total of 24 staff of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship award from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is also UPM Chancellor at the Gemilang Akademia Putra ceremony (MGAP) 2018 here.

MGAP is the university's acknowledgment and recognition of its staff who have showcased excellence in the exploration and development of knowledge and education services in uplifting the culture of knowledge.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Award (Akademia Putra Special Award) was awarded to the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Hair Bejo. 

Four people were selected as recipients for the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Award for Teaching (Excellent Educator Category). They are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Khairani Bejo from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Health Sciences), Dr. Nasri Sulaiman from the Faculty of Engineering (Engineering), Dr. Ahmad Nasir Mohd Yusoff from the Faculty of Human Ecology (Literature and Social Sciences), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamisah Hasan from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (Applied Arts and Applied Social Sciences).

Four received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Award for Teaching (Young Educator category). They are Dr. Mas Jaffri Masarudin from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (Pure Science), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syafinaz Amin Nordin from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Health Sciences), Dr. Noor Ain Kamsani from the Faculty of Engineering (Engineering) and Dr. Muhammad Alif Redzuan Abdullah from the Faculty of Modern Languages ​​and Communication (Literature and Social Sciences).The two staff who received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Research and Innovation Award (Excellent Researcher Category) are Prof. Dr. Mohd. Adzir Mahdi from the Faculty of Engineering (Science and Technology) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Normaz Wana Ismail from the Faculty of Economics and Management (Social Science).

The recipients for the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Research and Innovation Award (Young Researcher Category) are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yap Wing Fen from the Faculty of Science (Science and Technology) and Dr. Fakarudin Kamarudin from the Faculty of Economics and Management (Social Science).

The two recipients for the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Research and Innovation Award (Journal Article Publishing Category) are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chee Hui Yee from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Science and Technology) and Prof. Dr. Sherina Mohd Sidik from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Social Science).

Prof. Dr. Lai Oi Ming from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Research and Innovation Award (Product Innovation and Commercialisation category); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Law Siong Hook from the Faculty of Economics and Management received the Vice-Chancellor Fellowship’s Research and Innovation Award (Book Publishing category); and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriati Paiman from the Faculty of Science received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Research and Innovation Award (Art and Creativity category).

Two people received the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Award for Professional Services (Management and Professional category). Assoc. Prof. Samsilah Roslan from the Faculty of Educational Studies/Putra Science Park received the award for the Management and Professional category - Academics and Muhazam Mansor from Registrar's Office received the award for the Non-Academic category.

Norsyahriman Md. Arif from the Counseling Division received the Vice-Chancellor Fellowship’s Professional Services Award (Implementer Category).

The first place for the Vice-Chancellor’s Fellowship Award for Excellent Consultancy category went to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azlizam Aziz from the Faculty of Forestry; the second and third places were awarded to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Yusof Saari from the Faculty of Economics and Management/Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Fadlee A Rasid from the Faculty of Engineering, respectively.

While speaking at the event, UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris, congratulated UPM staff for their excellent contribution and expressed her hope that they would inspire and act as examples to other UPM staff to continue being excellent.

"I pray that this excellence will continue and uplift the university's reputation to a higher level in line with the university's motto, “Berilmu Berbakti”," she said. - UPM
