UPM retains Malaysia’s second best university in QS Asia University Rankings 2022

SERDANG, Nov 2 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its achievements in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022 when it managed to further improve its position as the 27th best Asian university for this year compared to the 28th ranking last year.

The ranking places UPM as the second best university in Malaysia and thus recorded its own history when UPM managed to make a continuous leap for eight (8) consecutive years.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, congratulated all the staff and students who contributed to the success of UPM and hoped that this continued commitment would appear again.

"Although the country is facing the COVID-19 pandemic, which to some extent affects the operation of the higher education sector, this does not stop UPM from maintaining its performance by cultivating new norms in learning and teaching, as well as research and innovation," he said.

He added that the ranking indicator is important to enhance UPM's global reputation and be a reference for UPM to further strengthen its directional planning by forming a new UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025 which will be launched in the near future.

Referring to the achievements in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022, among the 11 evaluation indicators, UPM's strength lies in the International Research Network indicator as it is ranked 11th best in Asia. In addition, the indicators of Faculty Staff with PhD, Inbound Exchange Student and Outbound Exchange Student obtained a score of 100% overall.

The 11 assessment indicators of the QS Asia University Rankings are as follows: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, Papers per Faculty, Faculty/Student Ratio, International Faculty, International Student, International Research Network, Faculty Staff with PhD, Inbound Exchange Student and Outbound Exchange Student. – UPM
