UPM-PESMY synergise collaboration in agriculture, livestock and halal industry

SERDANG, Nov 20 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Panasonic Eco Solutions Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (PESMY) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together to produce synergised outcomes in the fields of agriculture, livestock and halal industry.

Vice-Chancellor of UPM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan said UPM and PESMY will jointly organize joint working groups to work on the development of vegetable factories, hydroponic farming and in-house cattle farming as well as related halal food approaches.

“With the MoU, we hope that our commitment as well as that of PESMY could create new business models in the exchange and provision of technical and marketing information for the mutual benefits of both parties,” he said during the signing ceremony held at the Canselori Putra Building here.



The MoU was signed by UPM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan and PESMY by its  Managing Director, Mr. Hiroto Fukui.

The signing was also witnessed by Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Malaysia Office, Mr. Kojiro Matsumoto, Director of UPM Halal Products Research Institute, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Yazid Abd Manap who is also Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies, Research & International), Faculty of Agriculture.

PESMY is one of the green-driven engineering solutions based companies that will provide the necessary know-how in terms of construction and environmental control engineering to be complemented by the know-how and expertise of UPM.  PESMY provides green total solutions on factory development through Environment & Energy (E&E).

PESMY was set up in April 2012 as one of the subsidiary companies of Panasonic Corporation which headoffice is currently located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, and with branch offices in Kulim and Johor Bahru.  - UPM
