SERDANG, Dec 6 - Nearly 200 lecturers and students gathered at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) 2018 Educator Day to celebrate the contributions and commitment of UPM's academic staff in teaching, research and professional services.
The two-day programme held on December 5 and 6, 2018 was packed with activities which included sharing sessions by 11 academicians who gave short talks on topics related to the theme of the programme, ‘Humanising Education through Affective Teaching’.
The programme saw a join force of both experienced academicians such as Prof. Dr. Abdul Mua'ti @ Zamri Ahmad and Prof. Dr. Azali Mohamed, and budding lecturers such as Dr. Mohd. Mursyid Arshad and Dr. Salmah Jan Noor Muhammad.
The programme was held at the Multipurpose Hall, CALC, UPM, organised by the Centre for Academic Development (CADe) in collaboration with the Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC) and the Academician Association (PPAUPM).
An Innovation Gallery Walk exhibition which showcased 20 teaching and learning innovations (P & P) by GIPP researchers (Research Incentive Grants for Teaching and Learning) and AFNC-KP winners (Vice-Chancellor Fellowship-Teaching Category) was also held.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) UPM, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Saripan, officiated the programme and pre-launched two new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) courses, Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Imagineering Innocreative Educators, that will be published by CADe.
The programme was further enlivened with a poem recital by Dr. Marzni Mohamed Mokhtar with a poem entitled Mencapai Takah Murabi with piano accompaniment by Dr. Mas Nida Md. Khambari from the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM.
A group of language teachers from CALC known as The Voices of CALC also showed talents through singing and choir performances. - UPM
