SME@UPM Programme creates opportunities for SMEs to enhance performance

SERDANG – The SME@UPM Programme creates opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises entrepreneurs to get structured learning in order to enhance their business performance sustainably.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof. Dr. Azali Mohamed said that the programme directly provides new knowledge to the participants and builds better business relationships with company owners.

 

 “A total of nine learning modules were delivered to the participants of the programme to enhance their understanding of what is needed to become a national, regional and global company,” he said.

 

He further mentioned that the programme conducted at FEP is a cooperation between UPM and SME Corporation Malaysia (SMECorp), which is also supported by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).

 

“It is hoped that the cooperation will continue to assist SME proprietors in developing and fostering positive company culture,” he added.

 

The coordinator of the programme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmawani Abd Rahman stated that 22 managing directors from high-performance companies took part in the programme of 2017, and they were from different sectors, such as construction, food and beverage, agriculture, retail and manufacturing.

 

“Apart from learning in class, the participants had the opportunity to conduct industrial visits to Japan in relation to automobile industries, services, green technology, service and manufacturing companies,” she continued.
