Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah receives Lifetime Scientific Achievements Women Award 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 - Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah Mohamad Yusoff, a lecturer with the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received the Life Time Scientific Achievements Women Award 2019.

The award was presented by Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC). The occasion was witnessed by the President of Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS), Tan Sri Emeritus Prof. Datuk Dr. Augustine Ong Soon Hock.

Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah received the award for her success in discovering a type of gene found in Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV), an infectious virus that can be fatal to poultry, as well as for her contribution in research on potential use of virus against cancer cells and other areas in microbiology and virology. – UPM
