Pak Rashid The Che’gu: A Forum to Commemorate the Late Pak Rashid

SERDANG, 15 Dec  – The forum Pak Rashid The Che’gu: ‘Triggers Inspiration, Future Ideas’ exposed campus dwellers and the society on the contributions of the late Pak Rashid in the early development of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini Ideris said that the contributions of one of the founders in the development of UPM until its highly acclaimed status today should be appreciated and become an inspiration when confronting challenges.

“I hope members of UPM will continue to cultivate a culture of persistence and vibrant spirit to confront challenges in order to progress and become an inspiration to the next generation,” she added.

She said that it will promote a culture of knowledge sharing and excellence in UPM, as well as an active tradition of giving among members of UPM and alumni.

During the ceremony, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato’ Dr. Aini  also named the auditorium, ‘Auditorium Rashdan Baba’ to commemorate the first UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Rashdan Baba as a mark of appreciation for his contribution towards the university’s  development and to perpetuate an academic icon as a source of inspiration for all members of UPM.

The Director of UPM Alumni Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazandy Abdul Hamid said that through the program, it is able to foster collaborations to enhance the Pak Rashid Foundation (YPR).

“The Pak Rashid Foundation aspires to become a foundation which is able to boost knowledge through the various activities conducted,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony was the President of UPM Alumni Association, Dato Seri Diraja Syed Razlan Jamalullail. – UPM
