Alif Akmal elected as YDP MPP Session 2019/2020

SERDANG, March 11 – A student of Bachelor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Alif Akmal Omar, has been selected as President of the Student Representative Council (MPP) for 2019/2020 Session.

Alif Akmal received a symbolic handover appointment from UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Setia Dato' Dr. Aini Ideris, during the Handover Ceremony of MPP UPM 2019/2020 Session at the Dewan Taklimat Serdang, UPM, here.

Also present were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), UPM, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Roslan Sulaiman and Head of Administration, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), UPM, Pn. Noorizai Mohamad Noor.

Prof. Datin Paduka Setia Dato' Dr. Aini in her speech said MPP is the backbone of the University's management in ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of UPM students.

In this regard, she hopes MPP will do their best to take care of the campus welfare.

"UPM Management always pays attention to personal and spiritual development of UPM students," she said.

She also said that communication is important in ensuring the effective implementation of MPP activities and programmes for the students.

She also expressed her gratitude to former MPP members who had carried out the responsibility of fulfilling the university aspirations and representing student voice.

A total of 45 MPP students who made up the new members of MPP UPM for 2019/2020 Session took their oath at the ceremony.

They included Vice President, Mohamad Arif Fikri Ali; Secretary-General, Farah Izzati Abdul Rashid; and Honorary Treasurer, Akmal Hafiz Mohd Zaki.

The MPP election process for 2019/2020 Session, which took place on February 27th, was fully conducted by students without the interference of university administrators. This year the election was conducted using ballot papers compared to the e-voting system used in the past six years. - UPM
