UPM Alumni launched the Pak Rashid Foundation in 2000.

Pak Rashid needs no introduction for his immense contribution in education is well known. During his administration Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Pak Rashid was known for his discipline and high determination, yet he was ever generous and forthcoming when it came to sharing with and imparting knowledge to his students.  In recognition of his calibre and for his massive contribution to the field of agriculture he was awarded the ‘Honorary Doctorate in Letters' and the ‘Ridley Centennial Award (Posthumous)' by Universiti Pertanian Malaysia. 

The Pak Rashid Foundation is one of many efforts to elevate the status of Universiti Putra Malaysia as the leading public university in Research and Development and in terms research grant allotment. The foundation fully supports UPM’s efforts to excel in various fields, for instance the ‘Higher Education Chairs’. In addition, students who display excellent track record in innovative projects related to agriculture and education are selected for one of the University’s highest awards, the Yayasan Pak Rashid Gold Award. This award is given to deserving students to boost their confidence in their academic endeavours.

The Pak Rashid Foundation also maintains good strategic partnerships with the Alumni and corporate agencies to highlight the objective to excel in education and to produce outstanding professionals.
